Dr. Edward Urig has been practicing comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical care in Santa Fe since 1986. He is dedicated to maintaining a reputation of excellence and is highly respected by both referring doctors and his patients. He gives back to the community through his involvement with Villa Therese, Catholic Clinic where he has volunteered his services for the last 27 years and is a member of the cleft palate team for Children's Medical Services and Donated Dental Services.
Dr. Urig grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado and went to the University of Northern Colorado on a football scholarship. He concentrated on chemistry during his undergraduate years and went on to do graduate work in biochemistry at the University of New Mexico. Attending dental school at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine he received the faculty award for excellence in Pediatric Dentistry and was inducted into the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
After his General Practice Residency at Harvard Medical School at the Brockton V.A. Medical Center, he moved to California for a residency in Prosthodontics at UCLA Dental School at the Wadsworth V.A. Medical Center. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and received his masters' degree and extensive training in orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), preprosthetic surgery, bone grafting, facial trauma, TMJ surgery and dental implants. He has coauthored articles in the Journal of Neurosurgery and the Journal of Rheumatology.

The scope of the practice includes dental implant surgery, wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting, oral pathology and facial cosmetic procedures that include Co2 laser treatments, chin liposuction, Botox® and fillers.
